Engineering Nature’s Potential for a Sustainable Future.
Biotechnology
The Department of Biotechnology was established in 2020 and has a strong multidisciplinary research and teaching foundation in Biotechnology. It conducts joint research with other Institute departments as well as other local and foreign institutes. The department recently established a cutting-edge center for biotechnology research.
B.Tech. in Biotechnology program at Rathinam Technical Campus is designed to foster and teach individuals with a passionate interest in research and the bio-industry to tackle the current challenges of biotech research/industry. The curriculum emphasizes fundamental and practical understanding of vital biotechnology disciplines, as well as specialized sectors through specific programs in Medical and Nano-biotechnology. “In addition, optional courses from different fields will give students with interdisciplinary experience. Hands-on laboratory training, along with the mini project components to be completed in-house/other R&D institutes/industries, will provide students with the skills needed in today’s job market, both in academia and in industry, upon completion of the program.
Bio Incubation hub( Bio-i-hub) is the highlight of our department that uses innovation technologies to promote strategic areas with a high capacity to transform and impact people’s Sustainable development goals. The Center’s prime goal is to foster and accelerate cutting-edge biotechnological product developments by providing a wide variety of assistance to innovators and entrepreneurs working at the confluence of bioscience and technology. The department currently offers Tech in Biotechnology (Regular – 4 Years)

The Vision of the department is to produce globally competent professionals for the benefit of society by promoting research, providing the required training and atmosphere necessary to achieve academic excellence.
- To inculcate technical knowledge in the different areas of biotechnology
- To provide training in various fields of technology and research
- To promote research and develop innovative products for the well-being of society
- Establish mutually beneficial partnerships with industry, alumni, local, state, and central governments by public service assistance and collaborative research.
